Finished Tablecloth

After what seemed like forever (though it actually took much less time than some of my previous projects), the table cloth is done!

I am very happy with the outcome. It looks so pretty on our dining room table! I almost want to make another one for myself. Almost.

Here are some detailed pictures (one or two are repeats from past posts) and then below there are some overall shots. I hope my mother-in-law likes it!

Panda

I finally painted this panda that I made for a class last April. Isn't he cute? He's made out of sculpty and painted with acrylic. Just thought I'd share.

My New Sewing Machine!

So, we finally broke down and got me a new sewing machine. Yay! I'm terribly excited about it. It was actually the cheapest one on the shelf, but it still does way more than the one it's replacing, and it consistently works. I love it.

Here's the one I inherited from my mom. It was her first sewing machine, so it's been around a while. My husband has been trying to get it working right again, and it does so-so (sew-sew! Get it? ....Okay, I'll stop now.) But we knew it would eventually die, so might as well get one that works all time.

I have to confess though, I don't actually know how to sew. I poured over the manual before I did anything (and my husband helped me. He's done more sewing than I have). And after a little practice (but not enough, because I'm impatient) I started working on my quilt again!

I'm having so much fun doing this. It's actually a little difficult to keep sewing in a straight line, but I'm getting the hang of it. I can't wait to see what my first quilt will look like!

Scissors Fob

This past week, I took a break from the tablecloth (which is almost done!)

I recently joined an online cross-stitch exchange, Tiny Treasures, and a scissors fob was our first project. I had never done a scissors fob before (a scissors fob ties onto your scissors to help identify yours.)

My first fob came out much too big, so I put my own initial in the center and I'm keeping it.

And here is the back.

My second one came out teeny-tiny, but perfect! It was so small to stitch, I could hardly see it. This was my first time stitching on linen.

Here's the back. (The woman this is going to is nicknamed Mare.)

And a detailed view.

I am most happy with how they turned out. My first finished piece! Yay!

No More Patterns

Whoops, thanks for the heads up!

It was kindly brought to my attention that posting patterns is against copyright. I guess I had assumed that since the patterns were pretty old that no one would care. How silly of me, I should know better!

So, no more patterns. Sorry about that.
